Alexandre Chebeir News

Early in 2017 I used this blog to keep screenshots of how Alexandre Chebeir (who I sometimes called Chbeir because he went as both online) harassed women.

You can check the Chebeir tag.

There is new news on him.  It’s further proof that people who habitually harass women online shouldn’t be treated like social goofs who don’t know any better.

In addition to sexually harassing women on all social media platforms as Alexandre Chbeir/Chebeir, he was also using a fake account to threaten feminists and feminists organizations with photos of Marc Lépine, a mass murder whose suicide note claimed political motives and blamed feminists for ruining his life.

These threats were BEFORE he came onto the radar of belly dancers.

There were hoards of people who harassed the dancer who put him on blast with screenshots (which went viral). They acted like HER behavior was wrong and like he was the victim. People with no connection to Chebeir  went out of their way to harass/silence/threaten her (and it worked, she became afraid to talk about this) and implied that her reaction was out of line and might have escalated him to worse things.

He was already doing worse things. Each online outing of his behavior with screenshots made it easier for other victims of him to Google and know that this is how he treats women and that it wasn’t because of any failure on how they  present themselves online.

The news from my inbox today

Letter 1

I wanted to let you know, we are several feminists in Montreal who filed a complaint for harassment and some of us recently won our case against him. He has pleaded guilty and has been in jail since Feb. 22, awaiting his sentence on March 15th (prosecution asked for 6 months). He will also be tried in Gatineau on March 12th in another case of harrassment I don’t know much about. Here’s the article (in French) that was published today.
http://www.ledevoir.com/societe/522246/sandrine-ricci-et-les-trolls

Feel free to publish this info (but not my name). Women who experienced harassment from Chebeir may also contact me if they want to know more.
Thanks.

Of course her name is redacted here and you’ll have to contact me privately if you want connection to her.

The second letter had similar info but was mostly quotes from the French article.

Here is a google translation of the article:

A breeze of hope blew over the day of March 8: a group of feminist researchers believes to have finally been heard in a case of criminal harassment where a man has used photos of Marc Lépine to threaten them. Judged potentially recidivist, the man, who pleaded guilty, will remain incarcerated until he knows his sentence, on March 15th. The Crown has asked for the maximum for this type of charge, which is six months in prison.

“It surprises me that a prosecutor decided to take the case to court. In my experience, there are some who take responsibility and do not have the audacity to go further because they are circumstantial files where it is difficult to prove beyond doubt. It’s a systemic problem, “said Devoir Mélissa Blais, a researcher and specialist in anti-feminist movements, on the sidelines of the sentencing hearing at the Montreal courthouse. She herself was the victim of cyberbullying in another cause.

On July 23, 2016, Sandrine Ricci realizes that the Facebook page of the Quebec Network of Feminist Studies (RéQEF) she coordinates is the target of a stalker who publishes under a fake Facebook profile almost 20 links to photos of Marc Lépine and “#JeSuisMarc”. Fearing, she talks to the women directors of the group and complains to the police the next day. The investigation starts. Shortly afterwards, another complaint to the same abuser is filed by the administrator of the Facebook group of the campaign “No yes, no! “, Against sexual assault on campus.

One year later, on September 12, 2017, Alexandre Chebeir, a resident of Gatineau, pled guilty to criminal harassment in both cases. With mental health problems, the man does not have a criminal record. While awaiting sentence, the perpetrator was arrested again in February for hate speech against a woman on the Internet.

“It was sent to good service at the SPVM, which was so horrified by the messages that were [published] that it took over computer services that normally only [are] for pedophile or child pornography files” , said Crown Attorney Jimmy Simard, about the case of the RÉQEF.

Survey problems?

At the courthouse, in the group of scholars who came to support Ms. Ricci, questions were shouting from all sides. Why are not all complaints of such hate crimes against women being withheld? Why do not some people go to the trial stage, as was recently the case for a UQAM feminist magazine?

Many also questioned the fact that thorough investigations are actually conducted in all cases. Sandrine Ricci was surprised to learn that the investigators and the prosecutor had not even typed in a browser the name of the accused, where it is possible to find several complaints of women who say they are harassed. “If you do not use Google in the case of a hate crime committed on the Internet, from the point of view of the methodology of work, there is a problem,” she said.

In the SPVM’s crime, prevention and urban security division, Detective Lieutenant-General Lemay ensures that serious investigations are conducted for each of the reports that constitute hate crimes within the meaning of the Criminal Code. But she admits that investigators sometimes lack time. Applying for search warrants to seize a computer or obtaining an international order to access Facebook’s servers takes time. “Some files are very complex and require a lot of resources and efforts. Delays will work against us, unfortunately, “she says. It recalls that for certain summary offenses, the time limit is six months. “It’s very short.

More than “trolls”

In Mr. Simard’s opinion, if Ms. Ricci’s complaint went to court, it was because the record, in this case, was complete and convincing. It was easier for a prosecutor to defend him before a judge.

Mélissa Blais, who received e-mails from death threats from a man who also made references to Marc Lépine, was unable to take his case to court because the prosecutor asked for an amicable agreement against him. his will. “We are being banged on 810, that’s how we deal with violence against women,” she said, referring to a section of the Criminal Code with conditions to respect that exempts the abuser from a criminal case. “There is also the subjectivity of prosecutors that comes into play.

Sandrine Ricci was nevertheless satisfied with the turn of events in her case. “The attorney and the judge seem quite aware of the political issues surrounding hate crimes against women. They seem to appreciate the extent of the use of the symbolism of Polytechnique and Marc Lépine. It’s something that’s positive, “she said.

The researcher from UQAM would like to encourage women to denounce, themselves sometimes having a tendency to minimize this cyberviolence. “We are in a logic of trivialization of sexism and misogyny as it is omnipresent in society. The term “troll” itself helps to minimize. The trolls are small smiling and grimacing creatures, but they are not very threatening, “she says before adding,” I want to send the message to women and feminists that we can oppose it. And send the message to men and predators of this world that impunity will do.

Mr A.Chbr: Now with parents and pastry?

Good morning.He’s still at it.
Did he send the original dancer a half-assed apology on January 10? It turns out yes but it’s only now being read (after digging through blocked mail) because she DID block him on January 9th when all this started.
Clarification, she blocked him when all this mess entered our line of sight. Because, as I’ve shown before, this is at least his third month of harassing multiple women across multiple social platforms.

He did reluctantly apologize.
And then he restarted the messages to her this Monday…which continued to go unnoticed because he was still blocked….until he messaged other dancers.
I suspect that on Sunday something happened and that impacted him beyond inbox messages from vexing women angry about this. I’ll hazard a guess that a family  member confronted him.

(whistle: because maybe it was possible to cross check the likes on the few photos he had public…find family and send them links…I couldn’t have been alone in this)
Or maybe he just needs the rush of conflict and attention.
He’s contacted multiple dancers in the last 48 hours to argue about all this again. He’s framing it all in regards to how this is hurting him…and when dancers explain politely (which they don’t need to do, he doesn’t deserve their time) and he doesn’t get what he wants he returns to insulting the first dancer, and them, and all women.
He’s using a second account on FB with no picture. He did the same thing last November/December to harass another woman who posted his screenshots (that’s all in my first post about him, with screenshots).
He’s finding comments/reviews the first dancer has left for local businesses (LAST YEAR) and is following her comments with his own angry, pleading, abusive comments.
Imaging you’re a small local pastry shop and suddenly a man is on your FB page calling one of your other customers a fucking bitch.
We’re saving screenshots as usual.
He’s also returned to making comments about happy we’d be if he committed suicide.
We wouldn’t. We also find the leveraging of suicide threats to be deliberately manipulative, one more part of his “I’m the one hurt here” narrative. It’s also nothing new. You’ll see his first casual mention of suicide in the exchange with the second dancer (A-for-Awesome) in my first post about him.
He needs to leave everyone involved with this alone. If he refrains from contacting and harassing these women, this will go away with time.
If he continues to harass women they will continue to post on multiple platforms and visit here and send the Daily Dish links around…which will keep all of this high in google searches. If he stops, that will stop.
That’s not a threat. None of us are telling each other to react these ways. It’s a normal reaction that will go away with time and good behavior because that’s how life works.
If his family is upset then he needs to prove to them he can do better. That also takes time and doesn’t involve any of us.

Mr.Chbr, stop. Go away. Stop.

The vexing continued adventures of A.Chbr.

I’d been planning to write about Leah McSweeny and her behavior towards Michael Che and how it is some heady White Feminism…but then Mr. Whiney Dickshot Mc-doesn’t-learn-a-lesson (Mr.Chbr) updates were  on my FB feed and in my inbox. It’s now on hold.

Here’s our introduction to Mr.Chbr:

https://diy-wfu.com/2017/01/11/chbeir/

Update: Yesterday morning, Dancer A-for-Awesome contacted me to say  that she’d intended to let the subject drop and forget about him but he’s STILL contacting her. She sent me her previous screen shots of the first conversation she had with him(which I’ve added to the prior post about him). She added “And if you really want to torture yourself I’ll send the most recent ones as well.”

I probably don’t need the most recent ones because he’s been harassing other dancers who SHARED the original posts. A set of THOSE latest screenshots is being shared today on FB. That’s why I’m back here.

Let me remind you that the original posts were shared 300+ times before being removed by FB. They also caught the attention of Your Daily News AND Cheezeburger. He’s gotta be busy now if he’s in-boxing messaging everyone who shared it.

300+ SHARES.

Here is what his latest behavior looks like. I’m sharing with permission of the person who received it. It is NOT the only exchange he’s had like this this week with a dancer. I’ll be commenting between screenshots because I have opinions.

ch2-1

First let’s note that he continues to make this all about the impact on him. Get used to that because he’s not going to stop that.  Look how he frames it. Why does he say this is happening >to< him? Answer: Because women are sharing.

In his argument it’s NOT because he questions and harasses unknown women, calls them multiple times, and then gets angry at them when they don’t enjoy his attentions. This isn’t happening because sometimes he likes to show unsuspecting internet strangers his penis. Nope!  It’s happening because women share.

Let’s look at the woman in this latest exchange. In her response she says exactly why women are sharing the screenshots and I’ll restate that a few times… but let’s address the women who are blocking and ignoring him without sharing. I bet there are numbers of women who’ve done that to Mr.Chbr. That’s a sane thing to do. It’s smart thing to do if the person harassing you online might live close enough to you to escalate behavior if you piss them off.

Taking screenshots? That’s normal. Online harassment is one of those times that the people being harassed CAN easily keep track and share exactly what happened in case they need help…or just to double check with a friend “This is fucked up? Right? I’m not being crazy, right? Let me know if I’m overreacting” Screenshots are smart to do even when you’re going to follow up with blocking. Just. In. Case.

Why not just block? Mr. Chbr often wonders this. He’s not alone. I’m sure dudes wonder why this is happening to them.

Why show and tell? The answer is easy! She says it! I’ll say it! Let’s all say it!

It’s because there needs to be social consequences attached to bad behavior.

If harassers refuse to care/acknowledge how they are affecting other people then they need to be given another reason why NOT to harass. Social pushback from strangers, peers, friends, family is a way to get people to realize that their bad behavior towards others can impact their own lives.

It’s a way to say “if you wouldn’t corner a stranger and expose yourself to her in public then don’t do it on-line” because “don’t send dick pictures” isn’t working. Women are starting to SHARE the horrors of their inboxes with the world to reduce future cockfuckery.

Only YOU can stop cockfuckery…and telling people to stop the cockfuckery because it’s cockfuckery hasn’t worked.

cheb2-2

Sir, Mr.Chbr, I’m talking to you. We’ve seen the screenshots. She gave you indications early on that she wasn’t interested. You could have even stopped the FIRST time you called her and she didn’t answer. You called 15 times, sir.  She didn’t make you call 15 times. You were in control of that. That’s harassment even before you started insulting her.

I, like Mr.Chbr, have also seen ruder message from men to “girls” like:

  • “If you don’t want to be slapped, delete your post.”
  • “you’re my bitch now. Then you have no choice to respond me”

I saw those words when I dug into how Mr.Chbr harasses women online.

Note how quickly he  goes RIGHT BACK to insulting the woman who he harassed.

Mr.Chbr, I’m talking to you again:That angry behavior is what got you in trouble the first time and it’s why you’re still in trouble. STOP.

cheb2-3

Consequences. That’s why. CON-SE-QUEN-CES.

That’s why more and more people are naming and shaming to make the daily cockfuckery stop.

Life is in danger? No, check the sort of “women clapback” evidence online. This bullshit is common and exhausting and it’s more commonly being dealt with by posting evidence because people are sick of it. Mr. Chbr shouldn’t be surprised because women on Instagram have done the same sort of screenshots of his messages …those just didn’t get shared as widely.

And let’s give some applause to the woman responding for having patience to respond clearly and thoughtfully. She doesn’t owe this taint-crust a goddamned thing. Not a single moment…but she’s trying to educate.

Educating doesn’t always work which, let’s say it again, IS WHY WE SHARE.

“I’m not saying that what I said to her was ok, but…”

But he’s not saying that his behavior towards her was bad either. He’s not taking responsibility for anything.

cheb2-5

We don’t know who contacted the journalists. It wasn’t Rey or Awesome Dancer.  300+ shares. If it reaches that many people SOMEONE is going to see it and realize there’s an audience.

No one said you have to lick feet, Chbr. None of us WANT to THINK about your tongue or body.

Who wants to bet he has fantasies about women licking his feet? Yeah. Me too. I didn’t need that detail. Let’s keep moving.

cheb2-6

I’m GLAD he got called out.

YOU HEAR ME MR CHBR? I’m glad because Fuck You.

We’re not happy. None of us are HAPPY. We all wish this hadn’t happened. We’re not going to be happy until this bullshit behavior stops. We’re not gonna be happy until people AREN’T in a position to get away with harassing people because their  gender/race/sexual puts them in a position of power where their words and actions have greater sway than others.

Awwww. Mr.Chbr, Your family members were contacted?  It’s not the first time that’s happened. It’s happened often elsewhere and the results have often gone viral. Those times no doubt gave people ideas. Consequences. Haven’t you seen what’s gone viral before?

At last we can agree…GOOD JOB GIRLS!

Well, Good Job WOMEN.

Not all of you are in positions where it’s safe to name names and share. For those who can, I salute you! For those who can’t: we’re gonna try and work on this world. Hang in there, cultivate safe zones, and know your resources.

(sigh)

The patience to continue to respond clearly and thoughtfully, I don’t have it anymore. Let’s wrap this up.

Tbeebs1

Um. You haven’t changed in the past. SHOW, don’t tell. SHOW.

beebs2

“I did but no one has ever seen it” (I think he’s blocked) the way to apologize is to do so before people pressure you into it, really….or don’t act so poorly you get blocked and exposed.
And then more angry bullshit about the dancer. Fuck that.

beebs3

Hey, Mr.Chbr, you made it our business when you showed up in message boxes making demands. An easy solution was given but you wouldn’t and now you won’t let it die. VEXING, isn’t it? What would happen if I called you 15 times to suggest how you should act? Would you be patient if I shrugged and said “The worst thing I did was suggest he apologize and be better.” and then hounded your friends? NOPE? Because that calling and messaging would be harasssment

beebs4

(singing) “and we see your TRUUUUUUUUUUE COLORS shining through…”

beebs5

Nope, Mr. Chrb the problem is still you.

beebs6

I’m not gonna be in your situation. NEXT.

beebs7

FIRST OF OUR NAMES! SLAYER OF YOUR BULLSHIT! WE ARE BITCHES.

beebs8

TAKE. RESPONSIBILITY. BOY.

No. I don’t think you can do that. That’s too much to ask of you at this point

Move ON and leave women ALONE. Leave these women alone for a start.

Mr.Chbr, I doubt you’ve made it this far but here’s my last offer:

Get OUT of our inboxes. Get your dick out of our inboxes. Get your abuse out of our inboxes. Get your “stop sharing” out of our inboxes.  Get your cry face emoji out of our inboxes. Leave the 300+ people who shared your story ALONE. Get out and stay out. Make sure you stay out. Make sure we don’t find you using other social media to harass women…if you can do that, this will eventually fade away from online. These blog posts can go away…if you don’t bother us and you leave us alone.

BUT HEAR AND KNOW THIS:
I am a VEXING sadistic bitch nasty woman supreme with fries on the side. I’m FINE with that. I floss my teeth with the tendons of my vanquished.  I will keep an eye on you for the next few months before a DAMNED word or name on this blog vanishes.

STOP.

Chebeir

Alexandre Chbeir, is a man some dancers have gotten to know because he harassed A well know dancer, we’ll call her Rey (because we like Starwars)  via FB messenger. In fact he uses multiple social media sites to harass women. Multitasker!

Here’s the original exchange with REY that brought it to OUR attention. It’s been posted and shared multiple times on FB . It was then removed by FB. FB removed a subsequent post shared by a second dancer (let’s call her A for awesome) saying it “violated FB standards.” That post was SHARED 300+ times before being removed…so it resonated with people.

The following exchange  went on between him and A after she’d shared Rey’s screenshots. Please note that he frames this all around how it affects him: how he’s the wronged party and women involved are being bitches, Blah Blah Blah. Needless to say, these were posted and deleted by FB as well.

You might feel sorry for him…I almost did. Then I followed a hunch and did more searches on him. SURPRISE! He does this on twitter and instagram as well! Sometimes he gets his penis involved. His actions HAVE been screenshot and shared before and he ALWAYS acts the same way: begging that things be taken down, saying he’s afraid, and then getting angry if they aren’t.

Then I thought of how many more women must be out there. Women who didn’t take screen shots, who blocked without calling him out on his behavior because they just wanted him to go away. I got angry and started keeping notes.

Here is a harrasment call-out from the last three months. It was public a few hours ago but I guess he got active again and got another site to protect his harassing. Google Cache is my friend. By Alexandre’s thinking, Google Cache is probably a sadistic feminist.

Another instagram user @heartbweeps  Am I even supposed to feel surprised? Here’s a taste

He does like to call women vexing.

Harassing and sending a dick pic to another instagramer @mkkunk!

chpoop
https://www.instagram.com/p/BMOxmKMA27U/?taken-by=mkkunk

He then went on to bother @mkkunk’s sister to ask her to make her take it down…with the usual “I’m scared and embarrassed” line but both were “Um…NOPE.”

And I’m sure there are people reading this who thinks this is petty and nothing. It’s not huge but it’s one of those small, VEXING, things women have to deal with. Harassment, escalation of harassment (in this case calls & dick pictures) and then being the recipients of anger. Add to that the fact that this behavior gets a pass on social media and it’s the people being harassed who are silenced when they speak up…EVEN when that speaking up is simply posting the word-for-word photo exchange of what they’ve had to put up with.

No. No more.

“Your Daily Dish” picked up the story on January 13th, 2017. Neither Rey nor A submitted it (nor did I). When your poor behavior gets shared 300+ times because it resonates with people who want this sort of behavior to stop…and gets removed? The internet doesn’t forget. Who knows who shared it? The Dish didn’t name names.

The Cheezeburger quickly posted the screen shots with the title “Crazy insecure dude messages girl demanding to know if he’s attracting, things spiral” and left his name intact.

I wish I could say and then he shut up…but he didn’t.
